Former governor, Charles “Buddyâ€? Roemer, III, at the annual College Republicans banquet on Tuesday, challenged Louisiana Gov. Kathleen Blanco to “pick up the phone, call President Bush and ask him for new levees.â€?Roemer, having just returned from a visit to New Orleans, addressed many issues left in Hurricane Katrina’s wake. He proposed that new levees be built around the city to last for 500 years. Roemer said that the governor should call the president every day and politely ask “where are Louisiana’s levees?â€? Former governor Buddy Roemer will headline the annual fall banquet of the
College Republicans at LSU at 6:30 p.m. tonight at Mount Hope Plantation, 8151
Highland Road, Baton Rouge.

Roemer, who served as the state’s governor from 1988-1992, currently is
president of University Villages, L.L.C.

Roemer is also a partner in the FG Group, an import-export company
concentrating in trade with Asian markets.

In 1998, Roemer helped found the largest de novo bank in Louisiana history.

Roemer served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1980 to 1988.

He graduated from Harvard College in 1964 and received his MBA degree from
Harvard Business School in 1967.

The College Republicans at Louisiana State University are having a tailgate party on Saturday for the LSU vs Florida football game.

Stop by anytime between 10:00a.m. and 1:00p.m. Tailgating will be located between the Journalism building, Cox Communication Building (Old Gym Armory), and the PMAC.

We will have drinks, games and food for paid members.
