Speaker: Ed Buggs
Many listeners may remember Ed from his years in television and radio, and now he is back and better than ever Monday through Friday on AM 1300 WIBR. Each day he creates an informative, thought-provoking, and entertaining setting for people to voice their opinions. Ed puts it this way, “People only listen to Talk Radio shows for one of two reasons; They either love the guy or they can’t stand him, but either way, they listen. My job is to bring the issues that will move people to either pick up the phone and call or sit in their driveways and not get out of the car when they get home because they don’t want to miss a word. God, I love this business.
Ed Buggs grew up in communications. He was only 19 years old when he went to work as a reporter at WBRZ Channel 2 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Four years later he anchored the evening news in Dallas-Fort Worth and later in New Orleans and finally in Baton Rouge from 1988 to 1994. While anchoring at WBRZ television, the awards included Pulitzer, Dupont Columbia and Scripps-Howard the most prestigious in television news.
Today, as President Bush’s biggest African American talk show host supporter, Buggs can be found throughout the South promoting the virtues of the Republican Party. In his words, “I just want people to be open minded enough to consider ALL candidates. People who are so narrow minded as to not even look at a certain candidate because of their party affiliation worry me. To my way of thinking that’s dangerous, but I understand. I was trapped into thinking like a liberal democrat for forty some years until I saw the light. And by the way, the light was not a train coming towards me either.
Ed ends his show everyday with the words, “If you’re living your life as if there is NO God…..you better be right. Shalom.
