Among those voting nay were Sen. Joseph Biden, D-Del., Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., and Sen. Tom Harken, D-Iowa. Sen. John Kerry, D.
Only person from the gang of 14 voting against Sen Daniel Inouye, D-Hawaii.
Only John Marshall at age 45 was younger than Roberts will be as the Chief Justice.
Frist said Roberts was well qualified and deserving of the position:
